Scripture

(John 17:24-26, NLT) 24 Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began! 25 “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. 26 I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”

Observation

  • God is referred to as “Father” and “Righteous Father”.

  • Jesus wants his disciples to “see all the glory” that God gave to Jesus because he loved him before the world even began. (reference to creation)

  • The world doesn’t know God, but Jesus does. He is sending his disciples into the world to bring about more belief.

  • Jesus has revealed God to his disciples and will continue to do so.

  • The love of the Father will be in Jesus and in his disciples.

Application

  • Glory, love, truth, seem like great tools to share with the world so they can believe.

  • Jesus wants us to be with him.

  • The world doesn’t know Jesus, so it is our job to share the message.

  • Jesus will continue to reveal himself to us even though he is with the Father in heaven. He will do this through the Holy Spirit.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, reveal more of your glory. I invite you to fill the space of my heart with more of your presence this morning. I need more of you. I love that you want to be with me. I love that you are always revealing more of yourself with me. Fill me once again to the point of overflow so that I may be poured out before the world. May the people I encounter today be drawn to your presence and discover your love. In Jesus' name, amen! overflow so
