Conviction and Truth

Daily S.O.A.P. Prompts

S – What verse stands out to me today?

O – What is God revealing about Jesus?

A – How should this change my life today?

P – What is my prayer in response?

Scripture

(John 16:8-11, NLT) 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. 9 The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. 10 Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. 11 Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged.

Observation

  • In addition to being our Advocate, the Holy Spirit will also convict the world of its sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgement.

  • The judgement is coming because the world has refused to believe in Jesus.

  • The pathway to the Father is available because Jesus is going to the Father after his death and resurrection.

  • The ruler of this world has already been judged.

Application

  • The Holy Spirit convicts and convinces us of sin in our lives.

  • The judgement of God is based on whether people accept Jesus.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for your Holy Spirit, who not only comforts us but also convicts us of our sins. I am grateful that God’s judgements are always righteous. Search me, Holy Spirit, and reveal anything in me that is dishonoring to you. May my life be an example of your life to everyone I encounter today. In Jesus' name, amen!
