Scripture

(John 15:26-27, NLT) 26 “But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me. 27 And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.

Observation

• In light of being hated, persecuted, and rejected, Jesus is sending the Advocate (the Holy Spirit) to help us. 

• The Holy Spirit will lead us to all truth because He is the Spirit of truth. 

• The Holy Spirit will come to all people and testify about Jesus. 

• Jesus instructs us to testify as well about Him. 

Application

• The Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus, so we can testify about Jesus. 

• We must not allow fear of persecution to keep us from testifying about Jesus. 

• The Holy Spirit will help us know what to say and what to do. 

Prayer

Jesus, Son of God, thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to be my Advocate. I need all the help I can get. It isn’t easy to stand opposite the world. You never leave us or abandon us. We are your friends, and you laid down your life for us. I desire to live sacrificially in the same way. Holy Spirit, will you empower me for the work that Jesus has given me? I need your presence and power. I will testify about You to the world that hates me because of You. In Jesus' name, amen!
