Daily S.O.A.P. Prompts

S – What verse stands out to me today?

O – What is God revealing about Jesus?

A – How should this change my life today?

P – What is my prayer in response?

Scripture

(Luke 4:18-19, NLT) 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, 19 and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

Observation

• Jesus proclaims to the people of Nazareth that the “Spirit of the Lord” is upon him. The authority is upon him to do what he is about to do.

• He has been given the assignment to proclaim the good news to the poor, proclaim freedom to the captives, heal the blind, and release the oppressed.

• Freedom is the basic idea.

• The Lord’s favor has come for those far from God.

Application

• In every environment I am in this week, I am called to bring the good news.

Prayer

• Spirit of the Lord, be upon me! May I proclaim the good news to everyone I meet. Empower me to proclaim freedom for those in bondage and healing for the sick and infirmed. May the favor of the Lord be upon me, my family, my work, and my church. In Jesus’ name, amen!
