P – What is my prayer in response?
Scripture
(Matthew 5:14-16, LEB) 14 You are the light of the world. A city located on top of a hill cannot be hidden, 15 nor do they light a lamp and place it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines on all those in the house. 16 In the same way let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14–16, LEB)
Observation
• Matthew explains that we are the light of the world. It makes no sense to hide the light, because the light is supposed to shine bright for all to see.
• We are told by Jesus to shine before people so they can see the Father through us.
• Our good works are the way people can see the Father in us. This will encourage them to glory our Father in heaven.
Application
• Never hide my light.
• Shine bright through my good works.
Prayer
Dear Lord, it is because you are the Light of the world that I now have the light. Help me to shine bright for all to see. May my good works draw more people to you. In Jesus’ name, amen!
