Living the Story

Daily S.O.A.P. Prompts

A – How should this change my life today?

P – What is my prayer in response?

Scripture

(John 21:24-25, NLT) 24 This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate. 25 Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.

Observation

  • John was an eyewitness to the life and work of Jesus. He gives testimony and an accurate account of his experience.

  • We are told that so much of what Jesus said and did isn't recorded in this book, and if they were, John says, “the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.”

Application

  • I believe in Jesus not just because of my experience. I believe because of the eye-witness testimony of other disciples. John’s account comes from first-hand experience with Jesus. He lived life with Jesus during his three-year ministry. He heard his messages, experienced the many miracles, and personally saw Jesus die and rise again. I believe for a lot of reasons, but the eyewitness accounts found in all of the Gospels really solidify my belief.

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for instructing John to write his gospel. I understand better your plan and purpose because of his account. I believe that Jesus is your Son, the Messiah. I have no doubt of this fact. It is because of the sacrifice of Jesus that you are even listening to my prayer. Thank you for forgiving me and restoring me. I pray that all that I have learned by reading and preaching through John will be used to help others in the future “believe.” Amen!
